The real Leviev diamond family filed suit against Shimon Hayut, a.k.a Simon Leviev, the 'Tinder Swindler' for malicious impersonation.

The diamond mogul, the real-life Leviev family, has filed a formal lawsuit in Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court in Israel against Shimon Hayut, a.k.a Simon Leviev, who notoriously rose to fame recently through the trending Netflix crime documentary the 'Tindler Swindler.'

Shimon Hayut made false representations claiming to be the son of Lev Leviev and profiteering from it, cunningly fabricating stories, claiming to be a member of the wealthy Leviev family.
The Leviev family's legal representative, Guy Ophir, expressed that the lawsuit is only the start and numerous legal actions are to follow. Any other cohorts that will work with Hayut, including those that will attempt to cash in on the scheme, will also be instituted legal proceedings. Ophir also stated that any money retrieved from Hayut via the lawsuit would be given to his victims.

Simon Hayut is the subject of the popular Netflix crime documentary "The Tinder Swindler." The nearly two-hour documentary tells the story of several women whom Hayut had matched on the dating app Tinder into loaning him a considerable amount of money after creating an emotional connection or relationship with them and never paying them back.
It is believed that Hayut was able to steal around $10 million over the years from scamming multiple women all across Europe.

Since the documentary was released, Shimon Hayut has been banned from multiple dating apps like Tinder, Plenty of Fish, OkCupid, and Hinge.
