Netflix Cancelled the Development of Meghan Markle's Animated Series' Pearl'.

Streaming giant Netflix has dropped Pearl, the working title of the animated series created by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, through Archewell Productions.

The show, which Markle produced with David Furnish, was promoted last summer and defined as a family series that revolves around the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who finds inspiration in various influential women throughout history.

Pearl was one of the several projects to be dropped as part of the strategic decisions Netflix is making around animated series. The cancellation came after many of its employees were dismissed at its entertainment site. 

Netflix, however, said that it would continue its endeavor with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Archewell Productions on several projects. The production company signed a multi-year deal with Netflix in 2020 geared to produce documentaries, docuseries, feature films, and children's programming.
