Anna 'Delvey' Sorokin Remains in the U.S. Custody Pending Her Deportation to Germany

Anna Sorokin, a.k.a. Anna Delvey, remains in U.S. custody pending her deportation to Germany. The Russia-born German charlatan was sentenced to attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services in 2019.

Sorokin was the real-life subject of the Netflix drama miniseries Inventing Anna. The 31-year-old con artist scammed hundreds of thousands of dollars from several prominent banks and hotels and posed as a German heiress convincing New York's elite and acquaintances. Though, in reality, she is the daughter of a truck driver originally from the suburbs of Moscow.

Sorokin was sentenced to four and 12 years behind bars but was released in February 2021 for good conduct. Just as she tasted freedom, Sorokin was apprehended again for overstaying her visa the following month.

While Sorokin was due to be deported earlier in March 2022, she was granted an additional stay of removal by the 2nd Circuit Court. Anna Sorokin remains in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, awaiting her removal.

Anna 'Delvey' Sorokin remains at the Orange County Correctional Facility in Goshen, New York.
